Niels & Danielle — your hosts at Villa Vidalou
We are Niels and Danielle, a couple from the Netherlands who fell completely in love with Curaçao years ago. Villa Vidalou is not just a rental property — it is our own favourite place in the world.
Our story
Falling in love with an island
Curaçao is no new adventure for us — we have been coming to the island for about 25 years. From an early age we fell in love with the turquoise water, the warmth, the peace and the unique mix of Dutch directness with Caribbean ease. Every year we returned, and every year saying goodbye became harder.
After all those years the dream was always the same: a place of our own on the island that feels like home. In 2026 that dream became reality. We found Villa Vidalou in the Jan Thiel neighbourhood — a modern villa with everything we would want in a holiday home ourselves. Private pool, palapa, generous outdoor space and within walking distance of the beach. After 25 years of dreaming, we didn't need to think twice.
Who are we?
Niels — IT entrepreneur & Hyrox enthusiast
During the day I build SaaS products and focus on IT entrepreneurship. Outside working hours I push my limits in Hyrox competitions and other sports. Curaçao is for me the ultimate counterbalance: warmth, peace, and the feeling that the world slows down for a moment.
Danielle — nurse & high-level equestrian
Danielle works as a nurse on the ambulance — a job where you make a real difference for people in need every day. Alongside her work she competes as an equestrian at a high level. That combination of precision, calm and determination she also brings as a host: guests genuinely feel welcome with us.
And then there is Milou
Our daughter Milou is the newest addition to our family. In January she joined us in Curaçao for the first time — two and a half weeks — and she absolutely loved it. We think she will fall just as in love with the island as we did.
Why do we rent it out?
So others can enjoy our special place
We only rent Villa Vidalou out when we are not there ourselves. That way we know the villa is always in top condition — for our guests and for ourselves. We treat the villa the way we want to be treated as guests: clean, well maintained, with attention to detail. When you book with us, you stay in a home that is truly loved.
